Ahead of the local government election, some hooligans suspected to be political thugs have vandalized campaign billboard of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe Local Government Area of Gombe state.
It was alleged that the political thugs had on Tuesday afternoon vandalized campaign materials of Hon. Amtai Abdullahi Ali, Gombe local government PDP chairmanship candidate for the December 19, 2020 local government election.
Speaking to Daylight Reporters about the ugly incident, Hon. Amtai explained that the state Secretariat of the party will make official complaint to the Police.
When asked if the incident has caused tension in the local government area, he said, ‘Although, the PDP party loyalists were also out, but the party leadership were able to calm them not to destroy the campaign materials of the opposition. ”
Hon. Amtai explained that the ruling party in the state is already losing out, being the reason behind the attack on the PDP and its campaign material in the state.
While condemning the attack on his campaign billboard, Hon. Amtai averred that: “We are law abiding citizens and we shall continue to respect the law of the land and play by the rule of the game as stipulated.”
