The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Gombe state chapter has written a petition to governor Inuwa Yahaya against the nomination of one Al’amin Ibrahim Muhammed as representative of the council in a judicial commission of inquiry set up by the governor on the activities of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
In the petition letter signed by the group’s lawyer Benjamin Sati, NYCN said the person appointed to represent them in the committee is not even a member of the group.
According to him, Comrade Abdullahi Bello Yero who is the elected chairman of the council should have been nominated to represent the youth of the state in the panel.
Mr Benjamin stated that Yero and his executive committee were elected in April 2018 after the dissolution of the caretaker committee adding that their tenure is yet to expire.
The group therefore appealed to governor Yahaya to review the appointment of Al’amin and replace him with Yero who is the leader of the youths in the state.
“We urged your excellency to use your good office to recall the so called purported nominee representative of the Gombe state chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in the commission of inquiry and to replace him with the chairman Comrade Abdullahi Bello Yero as per the constitution of NYCN 2012 or any of the members of the executive committee validly elected and sworn in.” NYCN begged the governor.
