Following the defection of the chairman People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi state Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, the party executives have elected Barrister Umar Faruk Gwadabe as new chairman.
In a press release signed by Ibrahim Sambo and Mohammed Ishaq, Vice chairman and assistant secretary of the party respectively, copies which were issued to journalists Sunday in Bauchi, the election of Gwadabe as new chairman followed an emergency meeting held by the executive committee of the party.
“The State Executive Committee has accepted the resignation of the former Chairman of the party in person of Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi from the position of Bauchi State Chairman of the party and wished him success in his future endeavors.
“That the State Executive Committee has appointed Barrister Ahmed Umar Farouq Gwadabe as the new State Chairman of the party pending convention.
“The State Executive Committee of the party, on behalf of the Bauchi State Chapter of the party, has reaffirmed its loyalty, satisfaction and confidence in the leadership of the Partys National Executive Committee [NEC] under the Chairmanship of Alh. Falalu Bello for repositioning and taking the party to greater heights”. They said.
According to them, the resolutions were reached in line with the PRP’s constitution and in the best interest of the party.
