The chairman of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state Alhaji Uba Nana has dispelled the rumours going round that the 21 members of the state house of assembly under the platform of the APC would defect to the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Our correspondent reports that APC has 21 members in the assembly while the PDP which occupies the governorship seat has only eight law makers.
Addressing Journalists Wednesday shortly after holding a meeting with APC law makers, Nana said the speculations that the legistlators would dump the party was baseless.
According to him, the APC assembly members had during the meeting reiterated their loyalty to the party and denied any plan to decamp to any other political parties.
He expressed optimism that having majority of the members of the house of assembly, three senators and 11 house of representatives members, APC is poised to unseat the PDP state government in the next election.
On the recent local governments elections held in the state where the PDP won all the 20 chairmanship seats and 323 councillors, the APC chairman alleged that false winners were announced by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).
This is even as he vowed that the party would challenge the results of the election in a competent court as he does not have confidence in the election tribunal established by the state government.
