The National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) has granted full accreditation for 20 academic programmes of the Zamfara College of Education.
The Provost of the College, Dr Ibrahim Usman, announced the accreditation in Gusau on Tuesday.
”Considering the accreditation exercise, I can say that the programmed in the college are lmost 98 per cent accredited’.
”Out of the 23 NCE programmes offered by the college, 20 have secured full accreditation from the NCCE while the remaining three secured interim accreditation,” he said.
These, he said, are English, Hausa and Arabic Departments.
“You know our School of Languages was affected by a fire incident and our laboratory was burned down.
”There is no way we can get full accreditation for those three departments without a Language Laboratory.
“You know, every high institution must be accredited by the NCCE. The accreditation comes after every five years.
“You know, the accreditation granted to us by the NCCE is an institutional one. Therefore, apart from academic programmes, even the Registry department, Bursary, Library, Estate, Students Hostels as well as the ICT centre of the college, secured full accreditation.
“We consider this a great achievement. The NCE graduates of this college are now free to go to any University in this country for admission without any fear,’’ he explained.
The provost thanked the commission for granting the college full accreditation and pledged to sustain and improve on the quality and substance of certificates issued by the college.
He attributed these successes to hard work, dedication, support and cooperation by the management, staff and students of the college.
He commended the state government under Governor Bello Matawalle for supporting the college.
The provost also appealed to well-meaning individuals, philanthropist as well as private organisations in the state to invest in the college for the development of the education sector of the state.
