Chief Minister of the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ordered a probe into the mysterious deaths of seven labourers, officials said Thursday.
The labourers were found dead on Wednesday in the span of 12 hours in Ujjain district, about 189 km west of Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh.
“In connection with the death of the labourers in Ujjain on the instructions of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan three police officials have been suspended,’’ an official said.
The bodies were found at different locations in the town.
Police have already initiated a probe and sent the viscera samples of the bodies for laboratory tests to ascertain the cause of the deaths.
Officials suspect spurious liquor consumption as the reason behind the deaths.
