Youths in Kaduna today embarked on a peaceful protest to show their solidarity in the ongoing ENDSARS move across the nation.
The youths, who converged on Barnawa at 10am on Tuesday, were seen carrying placards with inscriptions promoting their interest.
It was however gathered from eyewitness reports that, the police were on ground for the sake of maintaining law and order. The police were said to have been dispersing protesters without coercion but mutually.
While speaking with our correspondent, Mr Abednego Moses, a Nigerian youth acknowledged the peaceful conduct of the protest, while attributing it to a proper coordination among the protesters. He also established that the protesters had been dispersed at least twice. He further disclosed that he has gotten more enlightenment from the protest today, which he’s ready to share with people around him.
In another interview, Ushrumyebhodo Voices, an umbrella body for all Kaduna Youth leaders has said that protest is one of the keys to make the citizens have their demands met, however the body opines that an effective protest must be peaceful and not be left unattended to, by those concerned. Ushrumyebhodo Voices added that the protest seems to be a short time movement, as the organizers are yet to make it appear sustainable. It also attested to the mutual conduct of the security forces on ground at the protest in Kaduna.
The information received by daylight reporters revealed that a prayer walk was scheduled to hold by 4:30pm, starting from the same venue of the protest (Barnawa) to Gwari Avenue, Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria.
