The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has warned against illegal connection and other economic sabotage in its franchise area.
According to the Management, the rampant cases of illegal connection, meter by pass, transformer oil theft and vandalism of any kinds are threats to not just KEDCO alone but to the safety of the general public.
As a responsible organisation we do not cede our tasks to any customers; it’s our job to repair faults on our installations hence the public should not fix any faults.
This is part of our safety priority to protect our customers and their properties from any danger that arises from illegal connection and other forms of sabotage.
This is why we have trained our engineers, to attend to such matters.
KEDCO’s Special Investigation and Prosecution Task Force on Electricity Offenders (SIPTEO) has warned those into illegal connections, vandals and other saboteurs. SIPTEO has begun its surveillance in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States to bring to book all electricity offenders of various kinds.
The Management appealed to customers to be vigilant to report illegalities within its franchise areas as doing that will assist KEDCO to better serve the public.
In his message, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, KEDCO said “ We are always restrategising and realigning our plans to meet the demands of our customers in line with best global standards and this is why we frown at any attempts by any group or individual to scuttle such efforts.
