Plateau PDP Councillors Back Governor Mutfwang For Second Term

Councillors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) across Plateau State have thrown their weight behind Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, unanimously endorsing him for a second term in office.
The endorsement which came during a meeting of the councillors in Jos, was moved by Alhaji Adamu Sale Hassen of Gangare Ward in Jos North LGA, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the National Councillors Forum (Plateau State Chapter), and seconded by Hon. Noro Davou Dung of Ta-Hoss Ward in Riyom LGA. It was adopted by all 299 PDP councillors in the state.
Explaining their decision, the councillors said it was a recognition of the governor’s “noble achievements, people-centred policies and leadership style that have positively transformed the lives of citizens.”
Responding, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for their show of confidence and urged them to take grassroots representation seriously.
“You are the vital link between government and the people,” he told them. “Our goal is to transform Plateau in every respect, and this responsibility requires you to stay connected to your wards.”
He stressed the importance of cooperation between the executive and the legislature, describing councillors as the pillars of grassroots democracy. He also urged them to mobilise communities for voter registration to strengthen the state’s political relevance.
Chief of Staff to the governor, Jeremiah Satmak, praised the councillors for supporting government projects in their wards, urging them to mobilise communities to take ownership of the initiatives while monitoring contractors for quality delivery.
Special Adviser to the governor on Political Affairs, Rt. Hon. Istifanus Mwansat, described the engagement with the 299 councillors as historic, saying it underscored the administration’s commitment to deepening people-oriented governance.
The event, which drew senior government officials including the Secretary to the Government of the State, commissioners, special advisers and leaders of the Nigerian Association of Councillors Forum, ended with renewed pledges by the councillors to work closely with the executive in advancing Plateau’s development agenda.
