Gov. Alia Donates N12m, 18-Seater Bus To NUJ Benue Council

Barely hours after pledging to support the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benue State with a utility vehicle, Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia has fulfilled his promise by donating an 18-seater bus to the union.
The presentation was made at Government House, Makurdi, shortly after the Governor officially launched the Benue Alia Palm Project with the distribution of improved Tenera oil palm seedlings to journalists.
The 18-seater bus was formally handed over to the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, on behalf of the Governor, by the Chief Press Secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula.
Governor Alia said the gesture was part of his administration’s deliberate efforts to strengthen the capacity of journalists in the state, acknowledging the media’s role as partners in governance and development.
Receiving the keys, NUJ Chairman, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, expressed gratitude to the governor for matching words with action, describing the donation as a “timely intervention” that would enhance the union’s efficiency.
The bus donation is the latest in a series of interventions announced by Governor Alia for the NUJ, including the renovation of the NUJ Secretariat and settlement of the union’s outstanding ₦12 million dues to its national body.
