UNICEF Applauds Gombe Govt’s Efforts To Tackle Out-of-School Children

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has praised the Gombe State government for its bold steps in reducing the number of out-of-school children across the state.
In a statement released on its verified Facebook page, UNICEF commended the government’s adoption of the National Framework on Out-of-School Children, describing it as a vital move to ensure every child in Gombe has access to quality education.
“Kudos to Gombe State. The government has adopted the National Framework on Out-of-School Children. This will reduce the number of out-of-school children in Gombe and ensure every child gets access to quality education,” UNICEF wrote.
The recognition follows Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s signing of a comprehensive Framework of Actionduring a high-level engagement with the UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Dr Nuzhat Rafique, in Gombe.
The framework, developed in collaboration with UNICEF, provides a holistic plan to address the multiple challenges responsible for educational exclusion in the state. It focuses on political engagement, adoption of best practices, enhanced community accountability, and the use of technology and innovation to widen access to quality learning opportunities.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the initiative as a cornerstone of his administration’s educational reforms, reaffirming his commitment to inclusive learning for all children, regardless of background or circumstance.
“No child should be left behind in the quest for universal education,” the governor stressed.
Dr Nuzhat Rafique, UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office, said the development has positioned Gombe as a leading example in Nigeria in the fight against out-of-school children.
She added that the framework strengthens UNICEF’s collaboration with the state in driving impactful social change.
