The Nasarawa State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), says it is “very impressed” with Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s “prompt and adequate” response to the rrecent flood disaster in the state.
Malam Umar Rabiu, Acting Chairman of NYCN in the state, made the commendation in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.
Rabiu pledged NYCN’s solidarity with the state government in the area of awareness and sensitisation campaign, “especiallty on risk factors associated with floods”.
The youth leader advised people living around the riverside and flood-prone areas to move to higher grounds and make it a duty to clear their water channels and drainage.
Rabiu also enjoined the residents to avoid dumping refuse on water ways and avoid walking or driving through flooded scenes.
He also commended Gov. Sule for his quality leadership and infrastructural development and reiterated the council’s commitment and collective resolve to continue to support his visionary leadership.
Rabiu said that Nasarawa youths were impressed with the determination of the governor to reposition the state in line with the dreams and aspirations of its founding fathers.
He added that the council was particularly grateful to the governor for appointing many youths into key positions, urging him to focus on delivering good governance and building institutions that would enhance transparency and accountability in governance.
“The governor has been known for providing good leadership in terms of transparency, infrastructure and capacity to unite the people. He should sustain that,” he said.
Rabiu described Sule as “a sound, pragmatic and accommodating leader with the interest of people at heart”, saying that such qualities endeared him to the youths and encouraged them to name him as “the most youth-friendly governor in the history of the state”.
“We, at the NYCN, are proud of Gov. Sule for being such a very calm and a true friend of the youths,” Rabiu stated.
