Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) Reverend Yakubu Pam who doubles as chairman Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) of the northern Nigeria has advised federal and state governments to emulate Israel in the area of farming in order to boost the nation’s economy.
He gave the advice Monday when he paid a courtesy visit to the governor of Bauchi state Bala Mohammed at government house Bauchi.
According to him, Israel is known globally for commercial and mechanized agriculture which serves as a major source of revenue of the country.
He noted that Nigeria too is endowed with huge fertile land that should be harnessed to revitalize and diversify its economy.
He said due to the COVID 19 pandemic that affected the whole world, this year’s pilgrims from Nigeria would perform the exercise in December 2020.
The Executive secretary commended governor Bala for sponsoring 100 Christians from the state to participate in this year’s pilgrimage in Israel.
Responding, governor Bala Mohammed thanked the executive secretary and CAN chairman for the visit and asked that the Bauchi international airport be used as departure point of all Nigerian christian pilgrims this year.
The governor also urged Christians not to always rely on government’s sponsorship of the pilgrimage but those who are wealthy should sponsor themselves.
He said there are so many tribes in Bauchi state adding that the people are determined to live together in harmony.
