The Cross River State Police Command has paraded a 40-year old lady, one Ann Lingwong, who allegedly stabbed her neighbor to death with a kitchen Knife following an altercation that ensued between both of them.
The tragic incident Daylight Reporters gathered took place at Okoroba Street, Akim Road in Calabar Municipality, the Cross River State capital, Monday.
Parading the suspect and 14 other suspected criminals at the Police Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill Calabar on Tuesday, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Irene Ugbo, said the Command recorded the breakthrough within the period under review.
SP Ugbo said 15 suspects were arrested for committing different offences including Kidnapping, gun running and manufacturing, piracy, murder, theft amongst others .
She also said notable ones included a notorious kidnapper who had been terrorising Akpabuyo and it’s environs.
According to her, “Daniel Eshiet was part of the gang responsible for the abduction of a Larfarge staff in September and collected million of naira as ransom for his release.”
She further hinted that one Mrs Ann Lingwong who stabbed her neighbour to death was also arrested after she tried to flee the scene.
“Ann stabbed her neighbour with a kitchen knife during an argument, these 15 persons will soon be charged to court once we conclude our investigations.
“We also apprehended a Point of Sale (POS) thief, he specializes in robbing POS operators. He came in all the way from Bayelsa State before men of Anti Cultism and Kidnapping Squad apprehended him,” SP Ugbo stated .
She urged community leaders and political class to eschew bitterness and abstain from resorting to self help but seek legal redress.
Ann who allegedly stabbed her neighbor to death told journalists that she was trying to prevent the victim, Daniel Edim, from beating her child.
“He was trying to beat up my nine year old daughter, I only tried to prevent him from doing so, then we got into a heated argument, I stabbed him with the knife I was using the peel potatoes, I don’t intend to kill him,” Ann said.
