Six men on Wednesday appeared in Magistrates’ Court in Ado-Ekiti over alleged involvement in cult activities.
The police charged Raimi Mustapha, 22; Olamilekan Sodiq, 21; Rasaq Taofeek, 21;Boje Oluwasola, 21; Usman Hakeem, 30; Adewale Obateru, 20, with conspiracy and belonging to unlawful society.
The prosecution counsel, Sgt. Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug.30 at about 7 a.m in Ado-Ekiti.
Apata said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 64 (a) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
Counsel to the first, second, third, fourth and sixth defendants, Mr Busuyi Ayorin prayed the court to grant their clients bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 eaxh with one surety each in like sum.
Ajibade adjourned the case until Sept.21 for hearing.
