Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has confirmed his relationship with Natasha Osawaru, the grand daughter of Benin Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and Deputy Majority Leader of the Edo State Assembly.
The confirmation comes amid his ongoing separation from his wife of over one and half decades, Annie Macaulay.
The award-winning singer made the revelation in a video posted on his Instagram handle early Wednesday morning, stating unequivocally: “Yes, I love her. I want to marry her.”
Rumours about the relationship between 2Baba and Hon. Osawaru intensified after the singer made an unexpected appearance at the Edo State House of Assembly during plenary this week.
Addressing the backlash and criticisms directed at the lawmaker, 2Baba defended her integrity, saying: “I see she has been dragged, she has been called all sorts of names. She has been labeled as a home breaker. She is a young, brilliant, and amazing woman.”
He further clarified that Osawaru was not responsible for the breakdown of his marriage, stressing that his relationship with Annie had already deteriorated before his involvement with the Edo lawmaker.
“She has nothing to do with what’s happening between me and Annie. But I see everybody trying to allegedly want to rope her into everything. Yes, I love her. She is amazing, she is cool, I want to marry her,” he affirmed.
In January, 2Baba stunned fans when he publicly announced his separation from Annie, revealing that they had already filed for divorce. At the time, he assured the public that he would soon provide a detailed statement to share his side of the story.
With his latest declaration, the singer has set the stage for what could be another high-profile romance in Nigeria’s entertainment and political circles.
