A 21 year old Bride, Maimunatu Suleiman of Kofar Dumi quarters,Bauchi local government has been arrested by police for allegedly stabbing her husband to death with a knife.
The woman was said to have had a misunderstanding with the late husband last Wednesday.
She however waited until midnight on the same day and stabbed him three times on the chest while he was asleep on their matrimonial bed.
The police in the state arrested and detained the woman at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the state police headquarters where she was being interrogated.
The Acting spokesperson of the state police command, Aminu Gimba Ahmed in a press release on Friday evening said, they received the information on 5th July 2023 at about 11:30pm and their detectives attached to the township divisional police station, Bauchi responded and took the victim and the suspect.
He stated, “While receiving the information from their end, the detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer immediately rushed to the crime scene at the address and took both the victim and the suspect to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi for medical attention.
“Consequently, reports obtained from medical doctors confirmed that the victim died as a result of an injury sustained on his chest, while the suspect sustained minor bruises on her stomach.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect (Maimuna Suleiman) stabbed her husband Aliyu Mohammad of the same address as a result of an altercation ensued between them on the 5th of July, 2023 at about 6pm in their matrimonial home. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to having committed the crime”. He noted.
Ahmed said the state commissioner of police, Auwal Musa Mohammad has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a discreet investigation to further unravel the circumstances that surround the death of the victim.
He assured that the suspect will be charged to court after completion of their investigation.
