He reportedly issued issued the threat to traditional rulers and civil servants, while speaking at the palace of the emir of Gona Umar Abdulkadir Bappa during his re-election campaign rally in the community.
The governor allegedly warned the traditional rulers against supporting Senator Danjuma Goje, the Senatorial candidate for Gombe Central in the election saying that, they should choose between remaining on their seats and supporting Goje in the upcoming election.
It could be recalled that Goje who is a former governor is contesting for Senate while governor Yahaya is Contesting for second term in the 2023 election under the platform of the APC but they had been at logger heads for a long time.

He said, “In this central zone, I have problem with Goje and you all know. The genesis of my problem with him is because of political thuggery which I will not condone.
“I have the power to sack any of you from the emir down ward. I can exercise this power until May 28. You can call him and tell him, I am not afraid of him.
“I increased your salaries and welfare. Can he (Goje) do that to you? I am warning. I swear, this is the last time your royal highness, you people will fraternize with him.
“We are the candidates of my party. If you as a civil servant or traditional ruler supports someone else or district head, you will be kicked out. When I am no longer in power, Goje should reinstate you if he can”.
