As part of his determination to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) Tinubu/Shettima Presidential ticket in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle has received a member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council Hon Dr Hamza Abubakar Haruna who defected to the ruling APC.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Jamilu Iliyasu Birnin Magaji on Monday.
According to the statement, Dr Abubakar who briefed journalists at the APC North West Zonal Office along Isah Kaita in Kaduna in company of political groups from the PDP, said his decision to join the APC is to support Governor Matawalle, who is the North West Campaign Coordinator to have an overwhelming victory at the 2023 general elections.
He added that, with political maturity, Governor Bello Matawalle unified the APC and made it stronger in the North West geopolitical zone.
Dr Abubakar said, he rejoined the APC because the party is the only one that will take the country to the next level.
He said that, he is optimistic that Governor Matawalle’s political strategy will continue to remain indelible in the minds of Zamfara people and North West in general.
He informed that, he defected along with political groups across the states of North West geopolitical zone, who are mostly youths.
Earlier, Governor Matawalle who received Dr Abubakar and his groups at his residence in Kaduna thanked him and other young politicians for choosing to align with the APC and its Presidential Candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He informed the defectors that Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mapped out strategic development plans that will consolidate the existing reforms embarked upon by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Governor Matawalle assured them of his commitment as the Campaign Coordinator for Tinubu/Shettima in ensuring that the defectors are well accommodated into the party, and would be carried along in the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC.
