A fortnight after his retirement as the Clerk to the Senate by the National Assembly Service Commission, Dauda Ibrahim El-Ladan is still performing functions as the chief administrative officer of the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Daylight Reporters has impeccably learnt.
El-Ladan’s retirement was approved in a letter dated 9th February, 2022 and signed by the Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission, Engr. Ahmed Kadi Amshi.
The letter titled: RETIREMENT FROM SERVICE, read in part: “The Commission at it’s 547th Meeting held on Wednesday, 9th February, 2022 has approved your retirement from service with effect from 9th February, 2022.”
The letter requested: “As you proceed on retirement, please handover your Office and other Government property in your possession to the Deputy Clerk, Senate (Legislative), Ilobah Isabella Ugochi.”
However, 15 days after the retirement letter was served him, El-Ladan, Daylight Reporters learnt from dependable sources, has not vacated the Senate’s clerkship office.
It is not clear if the National Assembly Service Commission has allowed him to hold fort in that capacity pending the appointment of a new clerk, or for any other confidential reason.
Several attempts by Daylight Reporters to get El-Ladan to comment on phone culminated in him saying: “I’m in the Mosque”, Thursday afternoon.
He would not pick several other calls after.
