Two men on Tuesday appeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano over alleged adultery.
The police charged Ado Lawan,43, and Lawan Ibrahim,34, both who reside at Yakasai Quarters Kano, with two counts criminal conspiracy and adultery.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Pogu Lale, told the court that Haruna Isa of Rijiyar Lemo Quarters Kano, reported the case at Market Police Division Kano, on Aug.4.
He said that sometimes in the month of March the defendants conspired among themselves and took the complainant’s 17-year-old daughter into a room situated at Yakasai Quarters Kano and had sexual intercourse with her.
He alleged that the minor became pregnant.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 97 and 387 of the Penal Code.
Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 each and two reliable sureties in like sum.
Jibril ordered that one of the sureties must be a Ward Head, while the second surety must be a blood relation.
He also ordered that the sureties should submit a copy of their recent passport photographs and means of identification.
Jibrin adjourned that matter until Sept.17, for hearing.
