A Karu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday remanded an 18-year old boy, Ibrahim Abubakar, in prison for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing items worth N220,000.
The Judge, Ishaq Hassan, ordered that the suspect be remanded until Dec. 4 to determine his bail conditions.
Abubakar, of no fixed address, was charged with alleged shop breaking and theft, an offence he denied committing.
The prosecutor, Olarewaju Osho, told the court that the defendant was apprehended and brought to Nyanya Police Station on Nov. 20.
Osho said Abubakar allegedly got access to the shops of one Eze Stephen of Jikwoyi and Apagu Audu of Nyanya, Abuja, through the ceiling.
He alleged that in the process, the defendant stole two HP laptops, one laptop charger, two mouse apparatuses, two polo shirts, one MPs jam box, all valued at N220,000.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened sections 348 and 287 of the Penal Code.
