Over 1,200 elderly, physically challenged women in Jigawa State have received a 25kg bag of rice each as part of the Federal Government’s palliative initiative, led by Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu.
Representing the First Lady at the event, Mrs. Hadiza Umar Namadi, wife of the Jigawa State Governor, reaffirmed the commitment of Senator Tinubu to promoting policies and programs aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of Nigerian women.
The distribution event, held at the Banquet Hall of the Jigawa State Government House in Dutse, was part of the broader “Renewal Hope” agenda. This initiative is designed to ensure the inclusion of vulnerable groups in national support programs.
“This food palliative is specifically intended for vulnerable women, as a reflection of our compassion for them. We will continue to prioritise such initiatives to give these groups a sense of belonging,” said Senator Tinubu, through her representative.
“Empowering women means empowering families, and we hope this palliative will support the families of beneficiaries during these challenging socio-economic times,” she added.
Jigawa’s Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hadiza Abdulwahab, explained that the beneficiaries were selected in collaboration with stakeholders from all 27 local government areas of the state.
The recipients expressed their gratitude to the First Lady, the Governor of Jigawa State, and his wife for their generosity, promising to remember this support both now and beyond 2027.
