…Urged Senators-Elect, Members-elect To Support Party Candidates
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with All Progressives Congress (APC) Senators-elect, Members-Elect, Governor and party leaders at the Presidential Villa Wednesday night over the incoming 10th National Assembly leadership elections.
It was learnt that, the President spoke to the party’s stakeholders particularly the lawmakers on the need to work for the victory of the APC’s candidates for the 10th NASS leadership.
He told them that, the success of his administration depends on whether or not he gets the right leadership of the National Assembly that he will comfortably work with in order to implement good policies that will help move the country forward.
He therefore urged them to reason with him. Adding that, the candidates were chosen by the party for the stability of the nation.
Aspirants for the Speaker’s seat, Muktar Betara, Yusuf Gagdi, Miriam Onuoha and Sada Soli were present while the Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Idris Wase and Aminu Sani Jaji who were also invited for the meeting were conspicuously absent.
It could be recalled that, Wase had while speaking at the Valedictory session of the defunct 9th Assembly earlier Wednesday said, he would remain in the race till the end.
He informed that, he is contesting for the seat because it has been prophesized by the late old Plateau State Governor, Solomon Lar who said that he would become the Speaker.
It could be recalled that, the party had endorsed Abbas Tajuddeen and Benjamin Kalu as candidates for Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives reapectively and endorsed Senator Godswill Akpabio and Senator Barau Jibrin as Senate President and Deputy respectively.
