The late Emir of Gumel, Ahmad Muhammad Sani, was laid to rest Friday amidst tears and sorrow.
The burial which took place in his palace at Gumel was led by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima representing federal government delegations at the funeral.
It was reported that the remains of the late Emir arrived at Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano from Egypt accompanied by Governor Umar Namadi of jigawa state before the funeral prayer, which was held around 7 pm on Friday evening.
Other federal delegations that graced the funeral include the Chairman of the Northwest Development Commission, Senator Babangida Hussaini Kazaure, Former Defence minister Badaru Abubakar, Former Governor Sule Lamido, other senators, members of the House of Representatives, and several stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Meanwhile, the state governor, Malam Umar Namadi; his deputy, Engr Aminu Usman; former Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar; Alhaji Sule Lamido; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly; and other top government officials were also in attendance.
Traditional rulers from within and outside the state, including the Emirs of Hadejia, Kazaure, Dutse, and Kano, among many other dignitaries, attended the burial.
Furthermore, thousand sons of the Gumel emirate, friends, brothers, and sympathisers were among those who took part in the funeral prayer.
The demise of the late Emir Ahmad Sani, who reigned for 46 years, has plunged the entire Gumel Emirate, and Jigawa State into deep mourning.
The late Emir has been described as a beacon of integrity, humility, and exemplary leadership. His remarkable achievements will remain indelible in the annals of the history of Jigawa State emirates.
