..as CP presents N43m cheques to 17 beneficiaries

Cross River State Police Command has paraded a Welder, simply identified as Oliver for kidnapping a Prophetess, Uduak Emmanuel and 19 others for various crime.
Briefing journalists at the State Police Command Headquarters, Diamond Hill Calabar, on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer( PPRO), SP Irene Ugbo, said that the 20 suspects were arrested for various crime within four months.
According to her, their offences ranges from Kidnapping, rape , armed robbery, cultism, unlawful possession of firearms amongst others.
She stated that the command remains resolute and committed to continually partner with community leaders, the stare government as well as other sister agencies all in a bid to sustain the drastic reduction of crime wave across the state.
Ugbo said: “It is my passionate appeal for maximum cooperation and collaboration from everyone in our collective efforts to secure and create a safer state.”
“Let me also use this medium to solicit the support of the media to always engage in factual reporting as your role is critical in shaping public perception and ensuring accurate information is disseminated” she said,” the PPRO added.
According to her, out of the 20 suspects arrested, 14 have been charged to court, while the remaining would also be charged as soon as possible.
The PPRO also said 14 persons were arrested over cult related activities, three for armed robbery, others for rape, kidnapping and unlawful possession of firearms.
Ugbo enumerated items recovered to include phones, laptops, locally made pistol, criminal charms, Indian hemp amongst others.
In a related development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Augustine Grimah, has presented 17 cheques of over N43 million to families of deceased and stained officers.
CP Grimah urged the families not to allow the money bring wrangling amongst them, but should rather keep them united.
One of the beneficiaries, a Pastor who lost his wife, an Inspector of Police, lauded the Inspector General of Police (IGPl Kayode Egbetokun for making it possible for families of the deceased to receive their benefits on time.
