Senator Karimi Hands Over State- of- the-Art Base to Nigerian Army to Checkmate Security in Kogi

In a move to improve security of Kogi West Senatorial District and neighbouring states, Senator Sunday Karimi, has handed over a State-of-the-Art Forward Operating Base (FOB) to the Nigerian Army in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Base of fully equipped with 90-bed spaces in two different blocks.

Senator Karimi expressed confidence the base would serve as a critical asset in addressing security challenges beyond Kogi State and its neigbhours Kwara, Niger, and Ekiti states.

Egbe, being a border town to these states, has been a vulnerable point for criminal activities, and the establishment of the Base is expected to enhance rapid military response to security threats and ensure a higher level of safety for the region’s residents.

Senator Karimi emphasized that the project aligns with his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents and supporting national efforts to eliminate insecurity.

Also speaking, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, represented by the General Officer Commanding 2 Division Nigerian Army, Major General O.G. Onubogu, lauded Senator Karimi for his foresight and contribution to national security.

He acknowledged that, the Base would enhance the army’s ability to respond swiftly to security threats in the region, particularly in border areas prone to criminal activities.

Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo represented by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) commended Senator Karimi for his proactive contribution to the state government’s fight against insecurity.

 

The Base runs on an all-round solar energy power supply to ensure uninterrupted electricity and equipped with internet access. Others are; motorized borehole  a steady supply of clean water, two brand-new 2023 Toyota Hilux.

The handover ceremony was attended by dignitaries from across the military and civilians among them were; Hon. Leke Abejide, Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Umar Aliyu and some members of Kogi State Executive Council.

 

Other dignitaries were; Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty (Oba) Solomon Dele Owoniyi and Her Royal Majesty, wife of the Ooni of Ife, Ambassador Temitope Enitan Ogunwusi, who represented her husband, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
