The Chairman , Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) 19 Northern States and FCT, Reverend. Dr. John Joseph Hayab, has called for unity, justice, and peace in Nigeria.
He made call during the 10th Authentic News Daily Lecture and Awards held at the Arewa House, Kaduna.
Reverend Hayab emphasized the importance of religion in promoting peace and national unity.
He noted that religion, when practiced in its purest form, promotes love, compassion, forgiveness, and justice.
He cited the teachings of Jesus Christ, who preached peace building, empathy, and reconciliation.
The CAN chairman highlighted the Church’s responsibility to preach the Gospel and live it out in ways that contribute to national healing. He emphasized the need for faith-based communities and leaders to discourage divisive rhetoric and promote reconciliation and mutual respect.
The 19 Northern CAN Chairman stressed the importance of empowering women and young people in nation-building. He noted that women have played transformative roles in shaping the destiny of nations through wisdom, courage, and faith.
He called for deliberate attention to justice and equity, emphasizing that there can be no lasting peace where injustice thrives.
The CAN chairman called on government at all levels to promote fairness, protect the vulnerable, and uphold the rule of law.
He emphasized the need for leaders to serve with integrity and a sense of divine responsibility, knowing that true leadership is not about power, but about the people.
The 10th Authentic News Daily Lecture and Awards held at the Arewa House, Kaduna, was a significant event that brought together stakeholders to discuss the role of religion in promoting peace and national unity.
The theme of the lecture is “Religion as a Tool for Peace and National Unity.”
