Police Begin Investigation As Man Stabbed to Death In Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic killing of a 45-year-old man, Ahmed Aliyu Umar, who was stabbed to death m in Hammadu Kafi community, Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the incident occurred around 8:00 am on Sunday, June 8, 2025, and was reported later that night at about 11:00 pm by the victim’s brother, Bashir Aliyu Umar.
The police confirmed that the victim was attacked with a knife and sustained deep wounds on the left side of his chest and back.
He was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe but was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
His body has since been deposited at the Bolari Filin Kwallo Mortuary.
Interestingly, the victim’s mobile phone and motorcycle were left untouched, raising suspicions about the motive behind the attack.
The Police said this detail adds weight to the investigation, as it appears the crime may not have been for robbery.
“The Gombe State Police Command strongly condemns this senseless and unwarranted act of violence and extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased,” the statement read.
The Command assured the public that an intelligence-based investigation is already underway and all efforts are being made to identify and arrest those responsible for the crime.
The Police urged residents of the area and the general public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement officers by providing any useful information that could assist the investigation.
“The command reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all residents of Gombe State,” the statement concluded.
The Commissioner of Police further assured that no effort would be spared in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
