The crisis rocking the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lekki – Jakande Chapter is taking a new twist, as the leadership of the organisation petitions the National Executive Council of the body for intervention.
In a letter, jointly signed by the embattled Chairman, Apostle Francis Akpan and General – Secretary, Emmanuel Ogar, they raised the alarm that the Lagos State Chairman of the body, Pastor Yemi Davids, in conivance with Mr Tunde Babalola and Mrs Bokula Jegede, was allegedly plotting his removal without following established protocols and procedures governing the fellowship.
They said the crisis was already causing disruptions and anarchy in the activities of the Lekki – Jakande fellowship.
The letter which read inter Alia stated; “I write to you with a profound sense of responsibility and concern as a devoted member of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and a witness to recent developments within the Lekki- Jakande Chapter. It is with a heavy heart that I bring to your esteemed attention the unconstitutional removal of Apostle Francis Akpan from his position as Chapter Chairman, a move executed without adherence to the established protocols and procedures that govern our esteemed fellowship.
“Apostle Akpan has served the Lekki-Jakande Chapter with unwavering dedication, fostering unity and spiritual growth among members. His sudden and unceremonious attempt to remove him from office, orchestrated without due process, has not only undermined the integrity of our fellowship’s governance but has also sown seeds of discord among the brethren.
“It has come to light that Mr Tunde Babalola has usurped the role of Chapter Chairman without legitimate appointment or election, allegedly in conivance with the PFN Lagos State Chairman, Pastor Yemi Davids, and Mrs Bokula Jegede, the Eti-Osa Province Chairman.
“This usurpation of authority contravenes the PFN’s established guidelines and protocols, leading to confusion and disarray within the chapter.
“The unauthorised leadership change has disrupted the operations and programmes of the Lekki – Jakande Chapter. Members are divided, with factions emerging, leading to a breakdown in fellowship and a hindrance to our collective mission. The spiritual well-being of the congregation is at stake, and the unity that once characterised our chapter is rapidly deteriorating.
“The actions of these individuals, carried out without consultation, resolution, or input from the Executive Committee of the Chapter, have deeply fractured the fellowship. Under their imposed and illegitimate leadership, meetings have been suspended, programmes disrupted, and long- standing collaborations among ministries under the Chapter have deteriorated.
“What was once a united body working towards evangelism, discipleship, and social outreach, is now marred by internal factions, suspicion, and administrative paralysis. The spiritual fabric of the fellowship has been torn apart, with pastors and members alike thrown into confusion and dismay.
“The body of Christ in this locality now groans under the weight of disorder, and there is growing disillusionment among faithful members who now question the integrity of PFN’s internal leadership structure.
“It is particularly appalling that Apostle Francis Akpan, who had led with transparency, unity, and divine purpose, has been publicly undermined and privately vilified without any recourse to a fair hearing.
“This is contrary to the principles of natural justice and the disciplinary framework enshrined in the PFN Constitution. The scheme to remove him appears driven not by spiritual discernment or collective welfare, but by personal ambition, manipulation, and unchecked political motives under the guise of ecclesiastical authority.
“The conduct of Mr Babalola and his allies has not only undermined the spiritual goals of the Lekki – Jakande Chapter but has also violated the principles of collective leadership and ecclesiastical accountability.
“If left unchecked, this unlawful conduct and leadership imposition risks setting a dangerous precedent for future abuses, encouraging rebellion, and igniting the disintegration of other PFN chapters across the state and nation.
“Therefore, we respectfully urge the National Executive Council of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria to immediately intervene in this matter”.
Members of the Lekki – Jakande fellowship, while speaking to this Reporter also requested for a thorough investigation into the events leading up to these wranglings, the conduct of Mr Babalola, Pastor Yemi Davids, and Mrs Bokula Jugged, and the reprehensible processes that were employed.
They called on the National body to take the necessary steps to restore unity in the chapter under Apostle Akpan if the investigation confirms these allegations, and take appropriate disciplinary measures against those who have compromised the sanctity of the fellowship’s leadership structure.
