The Nigerian army has discovered and cleared 56 explosive devices under a key Bridge in Borno State.
Sputnik Africa quoting the army in a statement on Saturday, reports that the Specialised army teams discovered and defused the explosives under the bridge linking Marte and Dikwa in Borno State during a targeted clearance operation.
According to the report, the intervention prevented a potentially catastrophic attack and safeguarded crucial infrastructure, thanks to the vigilance and quick response of the security forces.
Borno State has been the hotbed of violent attacks by Boko Haram and other insurgents for more than a decade.
The attacks have led to the loss of hundreds of lives and massive displacement of people from their communities.
Although the Nigerian Army has achieved significant breakthrough against the insurgents, there has been an increased in attacks in recent times, including suicide bombings that claimed the lives of scores of people.
