Defense Minister Lauds Sokoto Government for Supporting Military, Security Agencies

He made the commendation Saturday during a ceremony where 10 operational vehicles were handed over to the military in Sokoto State.

The vehicles, comprising eight Buffalo trucks and two Toyota Hilux, were donated by the Sokoto State Government to enhance security operations in the North-West region bedeviled by banditry.

DAYLIGHT REPORTERS reports that this donation followed an earlier contribution of 100 operational vehicles by Governor Ahmad Aliyu to support the fight against banditry and insurgency.

Matawalle praised the Sokoto State Governor’s efforts, stating that the vehicles would improve troop mobility and intelligence gathering to tackle security challenges.

Also speaking, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Brigadier General I.A. Ajose, expressed gratitude to the Sokoto State Government for their continued support.

After the vehicle handover, the Minister received a comprehensive briefing on Operation “Hadarin Daji”, a joint military operation in the North-West region.

He commended the Air Force’s recent successes, including the neutralisation of insurgent leaders through collaborative efforts.

“Your achievements demonstrate expertise, commitment, and dedication. Rest assured, the federal government will provide all necessary assistance for the continued success of Operation Hadarin Daji,” the minister promised.
