In a move to deepen youth engagement and boost grassroots development, the Chairman of Gombe Local Government Council and ALGON State Chairman, Barrister Sani Ahmad Haruna, has pledged his administration’s full support for the Youth O’Clock Advancement Association Nigeria.
He made the commitment during an advocacy visit by a delegation of the youth led movement to his office, where they unveiled new initiatives focused on peacebuilding, tree planting, and youth empowerment across Gombe State.
Barrister Haruna described the youth as the backbone of sustainable development, emphasizing the need for continuous support to visionary and proactive organizations such as Youth O’Clock Nigeria.
He lauded the association for its transformational agenda and urged its leadership to stay committed and intensify efforts in reaching young people across the state.
“My administration will always support any initiative that promotes genuine development and uplifts the lives of our youth,” he stated.
Earlier, Comrade Abdulazeez Sani Labaran, Gombe State Coordinator and National Leader of Youth O’Clock’s 36 State Coordinators, said the visit aimed to formally present the movement’s mission and showcase key achievements so far.
Labaran reaffirmed the association’s readiness to partner with government and stakeholders in areas such as education, peace and security, youth empowerment, and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene).
He also revealed the group’s flagship 2025 project planting 4,500 trees across Gombe’s three senatorial zones, beginning in late May.
Other key plans announced include a series of town hall meetings to support conflict resolution especially between farmers and herders and amplify the state government’s peacebuilding efforts.
Looking ahead to International Youth Day on August 12, Labaran disclosed that over 3,000 youths will converge at the Emir’s Palace before heading to the Government House, where they will submit a Youth Charter of Demands and commend Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
The delegation also included Maryam Adamu (Deputy Coordinator), Zainab Abdu Jibir (Assistant Secretary), Asma’u Umar Bayu (Head of Advocacy), and media team members Abdulaziz Ibrahim Hassan and Mustapha Danyarwa.
