A former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aligned with the coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a statement Wednesday he personality signed, Malami stressed that the decision is not made out of anger or ambition, but one inspired by love for the nation and concern for the hardship our people are facing daily.
The former Minister is believed to be preparing to contest for the governorship position of Kebbi State.
According to him, his decision to defect from the APC was after wide consultations and deep personal reflection.
He pointed out that the ADC is a coalition driven by the urgent need to rescue our country from further decline.
Malami said Nigeria is bleeding, insecurity has taken over homes, especially in the North and banditry, kidnappings, and terrorism have become part of our lives while the government prioritizes politics over the safety of its citizens.
He stressed that our economy is in shambles, prices of basic food items have tripled, the poor can no longer feed their families, jobs are disappearing, young people are hopeless and instead of focusing on real solutions, the government is consumed by propaganda and political distractions.
The former minister noted that governance has been abandoned, appointments, projects, and policies are now guided by political loyalty and not national interest and cannot remain part of a system that watches in silence as Nigerians suffer and die and reason for joining the ADC.
He said the ADC is a platform built on the values of justice, inclusion, competence, and national renewal and believe that through the coalition and with the support of Nigerians, it can chart a new course for our beloved country.
To the people of Kebbi State, Malami said, he remains their son and servant and will never abandon her and urged every Nigerian to join the movement to rise above fear and reclaim our nation.
