COAS Oluyede Tees Off Golf Tournament To Mark Nigeria Army’s 162nd Anniversary

The Nigerian Army marks a significant milestone in its history – 162 years of service to the nation. As part of the celebrations, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, teed off a ceremonial golf tournament at the Ola Saad Golf Club in Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna State.

The tournament brought together golfers from various golf clubs, who participated in different categories, including Veterans, Civilians Men, Civilians Ladies, Military Men, Military Ladies, and Professional Golfers. The event was a huge success, with participants showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

In the Veteran category, Nurudeen A emerged as the first runner-up with a net score of 75, while Bawa Umar took the second runner-up position with a net score of 73. Hassan Adamu emerged as the best in the category with a net score of 72.

In the Professional category, David Bisallah took the top spot with a gross score of 73, followed by James Bulus with a gross score of 75, and Pam D, who emerged third with a gross score of 78.

The Civilian Men category saw Paul Neeyum emerge with a gross score of 82, while Nura M Umar took the best gross score with 81. Ishaq Shuibu emerged as the third runner-up with a net score of 72, followed by ST Babanjae with a net score of 69, Adegoke Israel with a net score of 68, and James Silas with a net score of 69.

In the Military Men category, Master Warrant Officer Jerry Osalenten emerged as the runner-up with a gross score of 82, while Major SM Saidu took the best gross score with 80. Corporal Edwin Oluche emerged as the third runner-up with a net score of 65, followed by FS Lawal Nasir with a net score of 65, and Major IA Rikoto with a net score of 64. Lieutenant Colonel JA Omale emerged as the best net score with 61.

The Special Guest of Honor, Major General Godwin Umelo, thanked the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for their support towards achieving the success of the event.

He also lauded the Nigerian Army for making 162 years and commended the organisers for putting together a successful tournament.

The Nigerian Army’s 162nd anniversary celebration is a significant milestone that highlights its contributions to peace and security in Nigeria and beyond. The Army’s commitment to excellence and its legacy of service and sacrifice are a testament to its unwavering dedication to protecting the nation and its people.
