The Bijo Foundation inline with its core values and corporate Social responsibility has donated a state-of- -the -Art Dialysis facility to St Gerard’s Hospital Kakuri,to facilitate easy and affordable access to the healthcare services.
It was noted that the donation of the center is one of the several contributions by the foundation to the hospital for the glory of God and the uplifpment of humanity especially the downtrodden and indigent patients.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the handing over/commissioning of the Center,on Wednesday in Kaduna, the Archbishop of Kaduna, Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, observed that the donation of the Centre/ facility to the hospital by the Bijo Foundation is a wonderful gesture adding that, ” it is something to thank God for,that as Nigerians, we have a common interest of especially helping the poor at heart
” for the BIJO Foundation to have have done this, it’s not the first time that is doing something here,they have done it before, 9 years ago, I was here to commission the lCU unit that was established for us and now we are here again. and having seen where the hospital is,he has made this contribution and so it’s a wonderful day “
According to him,the donation calls for encouragement to other spirited individuals to give back to humanity saying “to have is to owe, when we have, whatever we have,we are only custodians and God blesses us to be able to use whatever he blesses us with for the common good and this what corporate social responsibility is all about and this is what Bijo Foundation has done”
“We encourage others to borrow a leaf from that so that, if so many Nigerians can replicate this” in other hospitals and clinics all over the country ” it will save so many lives,it will make life worth living for many people,so it’s a wonderful gesture that we appreciate so much”he added
Similarly, the Kaduna State Commissioner of health, Hajia Amina Baloni,in her remarks described the donation of the center as a landmark feat for the health sector in state,while appreciating Bijo Foundation,urged individuals of like minds to rise to the challenge as government cannot do it all alone.
While calling for sustainable collaboration with spirited individuals and organizations, she noted that the Church has been a good friend in this regard adding that the government can always count on the Catholic church.
She further said that our Holy Books admonished us to use what we have been given to help humanity be it in kind or cash,while calling on the Hospital management not to betrayed the trust bestowed on them by ensuring that the center is maintained accordingly.
In the same vein,the Medical Director of the Hospital, Mr Shurkuk Cletus Bako,, noted that the handing over center to the hospital is a development adding that ” it will go a long way to help the hospital and also. the patients that are suffering from chronic diseases “
He further gave assurances of their resolved to maintain the facility in meeting with its desired purpose ” we will do all that is it takes to ensure that we maintain the equipment and center
Responding the Managing Director/CEO Bijo Surgical and Scientific Ltd/ Bijo Foundation, Mr Joseph Ikechukwu Akanisi Jnr,feeling fulfilled,gave an insight on what informed this donation to St Gerard’s ” I was born here so many years ago and interestingly it has also been a place I have passion for
” and falling inline with the core values of our foundation to support medical institutions, so we saw it very important to start from home,where I was born to other places ” we have been doing a lot before the foundation; now the foundation is in place, we are even planning to do much more” he stressed
According to him,their philanthropic gestures are not limited “I think our next program is going to be at a Muslim hospital Zaria then we’ll come again for the upgrade of the ICU centre here and then other places”
He urged the Hospital authority to do the needful “we expect the management to be prudent with managing what is given to them and to benefit those who are suppose to benefit from it to get the real value of this and it’s my prayer those who are sick,we put smiles on their faces” he said
