The First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Dr. Asmau Inuwa Yahaya, in collaboration with the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum and her Jewel Care Foundation, has donated food items and other essential supplies to orphanage homes across the state to mark the 2025 International Day of Charity.

The event, held in Gombe, was themed “Speeding Global Generosity and Strengthening Community Support.”

It highlighted the importance of compassion and unity in addressing the needs of vulnerable children and underserved communities.

Speaking during the donation, Dr. Asmau Yahaya said charity remains both a moral duty and a unifying force, especially in difficult times.

“This year’s theme reminds us that in a world faced with challenges, generosity must move faster, reaching those who need it most. We must strengthen our communities by standing together, supporting one another, and ensuring that no child feels abandoned,” she said.

She also praised the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum for their shared commitment to life-changing interventions, stressing that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to inspire more giving and spread hope.
Caregivers from the orphanage homes thanked the First Lady and her partners for the timely support, noting that such gestures not only provide food and essentials but also give children a sense of belonging and love.

The International Day of Charity, observed globally on September 5th, promotes generosity, poverty alleviation, and social solidarity.

The collaboration between the Jewel Care Foundation and the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum, according to observers, shows how compassion paired with action can strengthen communities and build a more inclusive society.
