By Tahir Mohammed, Dutse

Jigawa Police Commissioner, CP Dahiru Muhammad.

The Jigawa state Police Command has pledged to strengthen Inter-Agency collaboration, enhance community partnership and engagement, intensify intelligence gathering, adopt proactive strategies, and promote respect for human rights in it’s bid to fight crimes and criminality to a stand still in the state.

This was revealed by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad during his maiden press briefing at the command’s headquarters in Dutse.

He said, “Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press. Good day to you all. It is a great honour and privilege to welcome you to my maiden press briefing, as I will be sharing with you the notable achievements recorded by the Jigawa State Police Command under my watch since I assumed duty as the 24th Commissioner of Police on 8th July 2025.

“Immediately after my assumption of office, I convened a strategic conference with my management team, area commanders, tactical commanders, divisional police officers, heads of departments, and other senior officers of the command.

“At that meeting, I intimated them with the three visions and policing strategies that would define our operational goals as follows:
1. Proactive Policing: To create public confidence and trust in the police.
2. Diligent Investigation and Prosecution: To ensure fair and prompt dispensation of justice.
3. Community Policing.

“I am pleased to report that the officers and men in attendance have demonstrated their commitment to the implementation of these strategies in their respective areas of responsibility, and this has yielded a positive outcome, which I wish to present to you now.

Arrest Of Kidnap Kingpin: The command recorded a tremendous breakthrough, as a team of detectives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) Dutse arrested a notorious kidnapping kingpin, one Adamu Musa ‘m’ aged 47 years of Yalwawa Quarters, Dutse LGA, who has been terrorising residents of Sumaila LGA in Kano State.

“Upon investigation, it was revealed that the suspect had kidnapped four residents of Sumaila LGA of Kano State on different occasions, and the victims were kept at Baranda village, Dutse LGA, where he collected the sum of eight million naira (N 8,000,000.00k) and one motorcycle valued at one million naira (N 1,000,000.00k) as ransom before the release of the victims.

“The investigation has been completed, and the suspect has been charged to court.
