The Acting Governor of Katsina State, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, has congratulated the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, on the occasion of his 69th birthday, describing him as a beacon of faith, wisdom, and unity for Nigeria and beyond.
In a statement issued by the Government House, Jobe commended the Sultan’s leadership since ascending the throne in 2006 as the 20th Sultan of Sokoto, noting his pivotal role in shaping religious affairs and fostering harmony among Nigeria’s Muslim community and across West Africa.
“The Sultan of Sokoto has remained a pillar of faith, wisdom, and moral guidance for generations of Muslims in Nigeria.
“His unwavering dedication to promoting peace, spiritual growth, and the enduring principles of the Sokoto Caliphate exemplifies a life wholly devoted to service and unity”, Jobe said.
The Acting Governor also highlighted Sultan Abubakar’s distinguished international service prior to his enthronement, recalling his role as ECOWAS military liaison officer, his command of the 231 Tank Battalion during ECOMOG operations in Sierra Leone, and his tenure as Nigeria’s Defence Attaché to Pakistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan. The Sultan retired as a Brigadier General in 2006 before assuming the revered throne.
On behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, Jobe extended warm wishes to the Sultan, praying for his continued good health, long life, and Allah’s blessings.
