The Gombe State Police Command has arrested three men suspected of vandalising facilities at Magaba Primary School in Ashaka Ward, Funakaye Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Friday.
According to him, the case was reported to the police on 22nd August 2025 around 9 a.m. by the headmaster of the school, Buba Chiroma, who was accompanied by two vigilante members, Haruna Muhammad and Mallam Umaru, both from the Magaba community.
The headmaster told police that at about 8:20 a.m. that same day, it was discovered that some windows of the school had been vandalised by unknown persons.
Following the report, a team of policemen, working together with vigilantes, quickly visited the scene.
During preliminary investigations, three suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, while the vandalised windows were recovered and kept as exhibits.
DSP Abdullahi said investigations were ongoing and assured that further updates would be shared with the public as the case progresses.
He urged members of the public to be vigilant, especially now that schools are on break, to help protect public facilities from vandals.
“The Command reiterates its commitment to safeguarding lives and property. We call on residents to join hands with security agencies in protecting schools and other public infrastructure, and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station,” he added.
