The Advance Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, of planning to rig the upcoming bye-elections in Chikun, Kajuru, and Sabon Gari local government areas of Kaduna state.
The party’s National Vice Chairman North West, Honourable Jafaru Sani, made the allegations at a press conference in Kaduna, claiming that the governor has compelled the 23 local government chairmen to contribute N30 million each, while the APC National leadership has sent in N1.5 billion to sabotage and rig the elections in favour of the APC.
Jafaru Sani alleged that the Senator Uba Sani administration had hired over 4,000 thugs to disrupt the elections and plans to use security agents to manipulate, intimidate voters, calling on security agents to remain neutral and unbiased in providing security and safety for the electorates.
However, the Kaduna State Commissioners for Information for Local Government Affairs, Ahmed Maiyaki and Sadiq Mamman Lagos, respectively, have debunked the allegations, describing them as a charade and “crying wolf where there is none.”
They said the ADC’s allegations were just saving face because they have seen the handwriting on the wall and were being rejected by the electorates.
Ahmed Maiyaki maintained that the ADC’s allegations are false, malicious, and intended to create chaos in an election they know they are not going to win.
He added that Governor Sani is a democratic person committed to electoral sanity and will not indulge in such acts. Lagos described the ADC’s claims of using local government funds to execute the forthcoming elections as a blatant lie and exactly what they were doing when they were in power.
The commissioners called on the people of Kaduna State to disregard the allegations and continue to support the Governor Uba Sani APC administration, which is making their lives better across the state.
