The Sokoto Youth Emancipation Frontier (SYEF) has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ahmed Aliyu, endorsing him for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was contained in a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Usman Musa, and made available to newsmen in Sokoto.
According to the statement, the decision followed a comprehensive review of Governor Aliyu’s stewardship across all sectors of the state since his assumption of office. The group said its findings showed “overwhelming evidence of progress,” warranting unanimous support for his re-election bid.
“Rising from our review of the stewardship of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu so far, across all sectors of the state, we have found overwhelming evidence of progress. As a result, we have unanimously endorsed him for a second term in office,” the statement read in part.
The Sokoto Youth Emancipation Frontier particularly commended the governor for his swift and decisive actions that ended the state’s protracted water scarcity, which had persisted for years under successive administrations.
Comrade Musa noted that the governor’s approach to governance had proven that political will remains the most important catalyst for development. He contrasted the current administration’s achievements with the “glaring failures” of the immediate past government led by Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, especially in resolving the water crisis.
“Where the immediate past administration failed miserably, Gov. Ahmed made quick work of the challenges, showing the people of Sokoto that where there is political will, there is always a way to progress and development,” he said.
The group urged the people of Sokoto to rally behind Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s leadership, expressing confidence that his developmental agenda, if sustained beyond 2027, would transform the state into a model for good governance in Nigeria’s North West.
The statement concluded with a note of political caution: “Although this is a democracy where everyone is welcome to test their popularity, we want to advise those planning or preparing to oust Gov. Ahmed that they have their jobs cut out for them. This is so because the people of Sokoto have seen governance up close and they have resolved to stick with the one who has demonstrated fidelity beyond any reasonable doubt.”
