Suspected Ritualist Nabbed In Akwa Ibom
* Police Recover Gun, Probe Links To Armed Robbers

Again, operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a suspected ritualist said to be supplying charms and “bullet-repelling” concoctions to armed robbers.
The suspect, identified as Cletus Effiong Bassey, 30, was picked up at about 6:51 p.m. on July 29, 2025, during a sting operation in Nung Oku Village, Uruan Local Government Area.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, officers acting on credible intelligence stormed the suspect’s shrine and arrested him on the spot.
A search of the compound allegedly led to the recovery of a fabricated single-barrel gun, believed to be in his possession for unlawful purposes.
Bassey is suspected of engaging in ritual practices and preparing protective charms for criminal gangs.
The police say investigations are ongoing to uncover his possible network and other accomplices.
The Command assured residents that it remains resolute in flushing out criminal elements from Akwa Ibom communities.
